Chairman ICHIKAWA Akira

The Japan International Association for the Industry of Building and Housing (JIBH)was established in October 2018 with the objective of "Contributing to the development of the building and housing industries in countries with close relationships with Japan, fostering healthy exchanges between related parties, and promoting friendly relations with these countries."

The establishment of our association has made it possible to centralize the management and implementation of international relations work which had previously been carried out individually by multiple organizations, and to foster close cooperation with and consolidate information between countries we work with. In countries such as the United States, Australia, and Myanmar, we have inherited and developed the activities of our predecessor organizations, bringing us to the present day.

In this context, in 2024, our association will rename itself to Japan International Association for the Industry of Urban Development, Building and Housing(JUBH), and expand the scope of our activities to include urban development overseas.

The various technologies and expertise employed in Japan in the fields of housing, building, and urban development are highly regarded overseas, and Japanese companies are increasingly expanding their business overseas. Our association is committed to work with government agencies and industry groups in countries we work with to resolve pressing issues such as the global housing shortage and climate change that stem from population growth and urbanization. In addition, in light of the ever-changing global situation and the interests of our members, we will expand our activities to other neighboring regions in addition to the United States, Australia, and Southeast Asian countries.

We will continue to receive guidance and support from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and other government agencies as well as related institutions, and work with our member companies to further develop our association's activities. We will endeavor to provide information and opportunities that will contribute to the expansion of our member companies’ businesses overseas, and ultimately to the sustainable growth of the urban development, building and housing industries in both the countries we work with and Japan.

We sincerely wish to ask for your continued support and encouragement in our efforts.

Chairman Akira Ichikawa
